The stove vent pipe will have to be supported every four feet using a bracket to attach it to the outside wall. Properly installed pipes will keep a wood stove working for many years to come. In this case you may want to hire a roofer to install a code approved roof jack through which the pipe will run. A pellet stove is typically installed just 1 to 2 inches away from a rear wall but you can install it farther out if you like.

This is a metal pipe that attaches to the pellet stove at one end typically with a pellet stove pipe chimney adapter and extends all the way through the chimney and above the roof at a suitable clearance. The stovepipe connects the stove to a chimney pipe which extends through the roof. In this video and as described in the steps below you ll see the installer attach the vent through the wall. If the eaves overhang considerably you will have to run the pipe through the roof at that point but if the overhang is slight two 45 degree bends will take the vent pipe clear.

Chimney planning step 2. A single wall stovepipe requires more clearance than a double walled stovepipe. Installing a pellet stove pipe in an existing chimney requires a chimney liner. The jack must be installed and flashed so there are no leaks.
