Large format tile installation requires particular attention to proper substrate preparation grout joint sizing trowel selection and mortar coverage.

Mark a horizontal line along the bottom of the wall coming up from the floor by the height of your tile plus one quarter inch.
So if the tiles are 10 inches high the line should be 10 25 inches off the floor.
Obviously large format tiles are heavier than smaller tiles.
